We are now looking for a motivated Junior Expert to join the Vaccine-Preventable Diseases (VPD) Team at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). This position offers a unique opportunity to provide interim services within a highly specialized team, focusing on immunization policies, scientific evidence, and disease surveillance. You will work at the heart of European public health, contributing to projects that strengthen the continent's ability to detect and respond to infectious disease threats. This position is a maternity cover starting mid-June, meaning it is likely to be a longer-term assignment (with a first order until September 30, 2026).
Job Responsibility:
Support data collection and validation processes, and the production of ECDC outputs related to vaccine-preventable diseases or vaccines.
Support the organization of EU National Immunisation Technical Advisory Groups (NITAGs) collaboration activities.
Support the collection and systematization of information on relevant immunization policies, program implementation, and scientific evidence as needed.
Contribute to the development of technical guidance on vaccination, provide rapid scientific opinions, and conduct rapid literature reviews and assessments.
Contribute to technical reports on vaccine-preventable diseases, provide periodic updates to the team on relevant scientific literature, and participate in VPI meetings and daily ECDC round tables.
Requirements:
A University degree within the field of medicine, public health, epidemiology, biosciences, or related fields.
Working experience in the field of vaccine-preventable diseases in the area of public health, epidemiology, and/or surveillance.
Very good English language skills (written and spoken).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well in a team and under tight deadlines.
Very good MS Office skills (including an intermediate level in Excel).
Nice to have:
Experience in the analysis of regional, national, or international surveillance data.
