Robert Half Permanent Placement is excited to partner with an industry leading Metal Fabrication company in the Buffalo, NY area on their search for a skilled Junior Estimator with manufacturing experience. Job Responsibility

  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for fabricated sheet metal components and assemblies
  • Review and interpret manufacturing drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to evaluate scope, manufacturability, and project complexity
  • Analyze GD&T and tolerance requirements to assess production risks and cost impact
  • Develop detailed cost estimates covering material, labor, machine time, tooling, finishing, outside services, hardware, and assembly
  • Evaluate alternative manufacturing methods to determine the most efficient and cost-effective production approach
  • Manage RFQs from receipt through submission, communicating with customers to clarify specifications and meet turnaround deadlines
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams while tracking quote performance and maintaining accurate documentation in ERP/MRP systems

Requirements

  • 3+ years of estimating experience in sheet metal manufacturing or a related fabrication environment
  • Knowledge of fabrication processes such as laser cutting, forming, welding, and finishing
  • Strong ability to interpret complex manufacturing drawings and technical documentation, including GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and manufacturability analysis
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, Excel, and estimating software
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to manage multiple RFQs and collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams
