Job Description:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Construction Accountant in the Windor area. The ideal candidate is someone who is interested in the construction industry and eager to gain hands-on experience with accounts payable, AIA billing, and core month-end accounting functions. You will work closely with project managers and the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial operations across multiple projects.

Job Responsibility:

  • Process high-volume accounts payable (AP) invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and timely payment
  • Review and match purchase orders, invoices, and subcontractor agreements
  • Assist with AIA billing, including preparation and submission of progress billings
  • Track project costs and support job cost reporting
  • Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Assist with month-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and project activity
  • Perform account reconciliations, including vendor statements and general ledger accounts
  • Support financial reporting and ensure accuracy of project-related financial data
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and construction accounting standards

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1-3+ years of accounting experience (construction industry experience a plus)
  • Familiarity with AIA billing processes or willingness to learn
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and AP workflows
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Procore, or similar) is a plus
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
