Job Description

This post offers an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in Paediatrics, Paediatric Surgery, or General Surgery to further develop their skills. Structured teaching and training will be provided, with support from a named Clinical Supervisor. the role includes participation and the opportunity to present in regular ward rounds, MDT meetings, and audit activity.

Job Responsibility

  • Management of new-born infants and children with congenital malformations and other surgical conditions
  • Pre-operative assessment, operative treatment and post-operative intensive care of infants
  • General paediatric surgical work including Urology, Surgical Gastroenterology, Thoracic surgery and Oncology with an emphasis on Minimal access techniques

Requirements

  • GMC Registration
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Demonstrable ability to work independently within UK healthcare settings, including familiarity with NHS clinical processes, policies, and governance frameworks, sufficient to ensure safe and effective service delivery from the outset of the role
  • Evidence of sustained progress through training
  • Experience in Paediatrics for at least 4 months
  • Demonstrated interest in Paediatric Surgery

Nice to have

  • ATLS and/or APLS
  • Experience in Neonatal or Paediatric Intensive Care
  • Experience in teaching Publications
  • National and international presentations
  • Ability to deliver effective teaching and feedback
