The Junior Carpenter / Millworker supports the Production team in the fabrication and assembly of scenic, architectural, and branded elements. This is an entry-level, hands-on role ideal for someone looking to build their skills in custom fabrication while learning from seasoned craftsmen and cross-functional teams. This role offers opportunities for advancement into Intermediate and Senior Carpenter/Millworker positions as skills, speed, and craftsmanship develop.
Job Responsibility:
Assist in the fabrication and assembly of scenic structures, millwork components, and custom environments
Support senior carpenters in preparing materials, cutting, sanding, laminating, and finishing components
Read and interpret basic shop drawings, diagrams, and instructions with supervision
Operate standard woodworking tools and machinery (table saws, chop saws, routers, drills, sanders, etc.) safely and efficiently
Apply laminates, veneer, and edge banding with attention to quality and finish consistency
Assist in constructing modular and knock-down elements designed for transport and reassembly
Collaborate with CNC, Metal, Paint, and Graphics departments to support integrated fabrication processes
Participate in on-site installations as needed, assisting with setup, assembly, and takedown
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring adherence to all safety procedures and shop standards
Report material shortages, equipment issues, and quality concerns to the Foreman or Production Manager
Contribute to team efficiency by following direction and proactively supporting the production workflow
Requirements:
1–2 years of experience in carpentry, millwork, scenic fabrication, or a related field (or completion of a relevant technical program)
Basic understanding of woodworking tools, materials, and construction techniques
Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship with a willingness to learn
Ability to read and follow drawings or build instructions
Able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform physical labor
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and reliability in a collaborative team environment
Nice to have:
Exposure to exhibit fabrication, scenic construction, or event/tradeshow environments
Familiarity with laminates, MDF, plywood, hardwoods, and composite materials
Knowledge of basic shop safety protocols and tool maintenance
Forklift and/or scissor lift certification is a plus
