Junior Attorney

• Counsel clients and provide assistance to help them maintain their housing
• Manage a full caseload of housing-related cases, including non-payment and holdover proceedings in Bronx Housing Court
• Represent clients in administrative hearings, including termination proceedings
• Conduct community outreach by leading educational workshops and training sessions
• Prepare and draft legal documents such as agreements, motions, and orders to show cause
• Represent tenants during trials and advocate for their rights
• Assess the merits of assigned cases and identify key legal issues
• Attend meetings, conferences, and training sessions to stay updated on legal practices
• Maintain accurate and confidential case documentation and progress notes, both electronically and physically
• Collaborate with other departments and programs to ensure effective inter-agency referrals

• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
• Pending admittance to the state bar
• Proven ability to manage cases from intake to closure in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication, research, and organizational skills
• Commitment to public interest law and social justice
• Experience working with diverse, vulnerable populations
• Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory
• Proficiency in case management and document preparation software
