A boutique litigation firm in Oakland is seeking a Junior Paralegal to join the team on a contract-to-hire basis. The firm handles a broad range of civil litigation matters, including toxic torts, business litigation, employment, medical malpractice, product liability, and general liability defense. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with an ABA-approved paralegal certificate or a junior paralegal with 1–3 years of experience to gain hands-on exposure to complex litigation in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility
Provide day-to-day support to attorneys across a variety of civil litigation matters
Assist with drafting, formatting, and proofreading legal documents, including pleadings and correspondence
Support discovery efforts, including document collection, organization, and production
Maintain and organize case files (electronic and physical)
Assist with deposition and trial preparation, including exhibit organization and binder preparation
Conduct basic legal research and cite checking
Coordinate filings and assist with calendaring deadlines and court dates
Communicate with internal team members and assist with case management tasks
Requirements
ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate required
Open to recent graduates or candidates with 1–3 years of experience
Strong interest in civil litigation (toxic tort, employment, business litigation, or similar)
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
familiarity with legal systems/tools is a plus
Eagerness to learn and grow within a litigation-focused practice
