Requirements

Journeyman Technician Certification (Commercial Transport, Heavy Duty or Automotive may be considered with Air Brake Endorsement)
CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License or willingness to obtain during probationary period
2–5 years of related experience, including exposure to working as a Journeyperson Mechanic
A valid Class 5 driver’s license with an air brake endorsement
Strong analytical problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills
Excellent Health & Safety Knowledge, particularly OH&S rules and regulations guidelines, with a keen eye for detail
Employment is contingent upon receiving a favorable background check and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening

Job Responsibility

Diagnose and repair vehicles using diagnostic tools to identify issues and perform necessary repairs, maintenance, and part replacements
Operate buses for testing and diagnostics as needed
Perform routine and preventative maintenance, including CVIP inspections
Maintain accurate service records and manage parts procurement
Collaborate with technicians, management, and drivers to meet shop priorities and schedules
Follow all safety, environmental, and HR procedures in line with OH&S and inspection standards
Keep a clean, safe workspace and communicate effectively with the team
Support apprentice training, suggest training needs, and attend required company programs

Requirements

Journeyperson certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or Red Seal certification required
3-5 years of experience in heavy machinery maintenance and repair

Job Responsibility

Maintain and repair various heavy machinery and equipment including sno-cats, loaders, dozers, and graders used in ice road construction
Conduct routine preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety of all equipment
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues in severe winter conditions
Complete necessary repairs on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
Support ice road operations through practical mechanical expertise
Document maintenance and repair records accurately
Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient operations while adhering to safety protocols
Participate in daily toolbox meetings and report any unsafe conditions immediately
Willingness to work extended hours and be away from home for extended periods

Corrects equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, disassembling, assembling, and replacing major assemblies, components, parts, electrical, adjusting and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units
Familiar with Sandvik Scoops, Dumps, drills
Familiar with Maclean Bolters and support equipment
Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives
adjusting controls and systems
Oversee vehicle appearance by cleaning and washing
