Job Description

Under limited supervision, performs the planning, installation, maintenance and repair of the university's water delivery, sewer systems, gas network, heating systems, fixtures and fittings.

Job Responsibility

Requirements

  • Possesses a strong familiarity with plumbing codes, both nationally and locally
  • Position, align, cut, join and fuse pipes together using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, soldering sealants or welding equipment
  • Measure distances, set elevations and install pipe to grade as defined in drawings and specifications
  • Practices preventive maintenance of plumbing tools and equipment by performing daily inspections of equipment to determine their working condition, oiling moving parts, cleaning and servicing tools and equipment as directed or specified in the operator's manual, and returning damaged tools and equipment for repair or replacement
  • Procures materials, tools and rental equipment at specified times to conform to work schedules
  • Confers with supervisory personnel, owners, engineers, contractors, inspectors, material suppliers and/or equipment dealers to resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints or construction problems to improve construction methods and performance
