Job Responsibility

Possess and maintain a Journeyman Plumber License for the City of Lincoln, Nebraska
Performs skilled technical work in the installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of underground systems, including water main, sanitary and/or storm sewer systems
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste disposal systems
Possesses a strong familiarity with plumbing codes, both nationally and locally
Position, align, cut, join and fuse pipes together using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, soldering sealants or welding equipment
Measure distances, set elevations and install pipe to grade as defined in drawings and specifications
Practices preventive maintenance of plumbing tools and equipment by performing daily inspections of equipment to determine their working condition, oiling moving parts, cleaning and servicing tools and equipment as directed or specified in the operator's manual, and returning damaged tools and equipment for repair or replacement
Procures materials, tools and rental equipment at specified times to conform to work schedules
Confers with supervisory personnel, owners, engineers, contractors, inspectors, material suppliers and/or equipment dealers to resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints or construction problems to improve construction methods and performance
Inspects or reviews work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications, schedules and safety compliance
