Capstone IT is seeking a strategic and hands-on Java Architect to lead enterprise architecture initiatives within a large, complex environment. This role will focus on modernizing platforms, advancing event-driven architecture, and enabling scalable, secure solutions that align with long-term business objectives. This role is considered 70% strategic and 30% hands on. This is a high-impact position requiring both technical depth and the ability to influence across teams, helping shape the future-state architecture while mentoring engineering talent.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the design and implementation of scalable, loosely coupled systems, driving the transition from monolithic to modern, distributed architectures
Partner with business and technology leaders to define architecture roadmaps, support modernization efforts, and align solutions with enterprise strategy
Establish and promote best practices for event-based systems, ensuring effective communication across platforms and domains
Drive proof-of-concept initiatives, evaluate emerging technologies, and lead design sessions to validate business and technical solutions
Define and enforce architecture standards related to security, compliance, performance, and responsible AI practices
Guide and develop engineers and architects, fostering a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and engineering excellence
Work closely with product, engineering, and external partners to deliver integrated, scalable, and observable solutions
Requirements:
10+ years of experience leading enterprise architecture initiatives
Strong expertise in event-driven architecture and enterprise integration patterns
Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing technical teams
Experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred)
Proficiency in Python, Java or .NET, and relational databases
Strong experience with microservices, APIs, and event-based systems
Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and SDLC best practices
Experience with prototyping, experimentation, and solution validation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset
Ability to influence decisions and operate as a trusted advisor
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience working within Agile environments, including Agile Release Trains (ART)
