The Japan Assistant Controller reports to the Japan Controller and is part of the Controllership team within Finance. The working model is hybrid (on-site and remote), aligned to business needs and task-specific requirements.

Job Responsibility

  • Deliver accurate, timely, and compliant accounting operations, financial close and reporting
  • Own and drive a high-quality month-end close, including ledger coordination with Genpact
  • Strengthen balance sheet integrity and internal controls
  • Perform analysis for the Danaher Annual Balance Sheet Review Program, SOX testing, and lead remediation closure where control gaps are identified
  • Serve as a key controllership and audit partner
  • Act as the key liaison for internal and external audits and ensure timely provision of supporting documents and remediation of audit findings
  • Support statutory, tax, and regulatory compliance in Japan
  • Manage tax-related accounts and payments, prepare and submit government-required documentation, and support statutory and tax filing obligations
  • Drive issue resolution and continuous process improvement
  • Partner closely with the Japan Controller and Global Process Owners to address urgent issues, resolve non-standard matters, and continuously improve the efficiency and quality of finance processes

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of practical experience in month-end close, reconciliations, and statutory and/or management reporting
  • Proficiency in Japan GAAP
  • CPA or equivalent professional accounting certification is preferred
  • Education in Finance or Accounting is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English and Japanese (written and verbal)
  • Strong critical thinking skills and risk mindset
  • Proficiency with Oracle and BI tools
