Iuoe hvac mechanic a

• Provides service support to the customer base within the medical center
• Maintains the proper environment to ensure the medical center can perform its service to the community and support the function of building systems
• Backfills for the duties of the Refrigeration Mechanic A at any time as required
• Maintains uninterrupted services to a very diverse customer base including a trauma medical center, research and teaching facilities
• Complies with the safety regulations and policies of the University of Rochester, MCFO and all local state and Federal agencies having jurisdiction
• Performs service calls, work orders, preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and reconditioning work
• Disassembles, inspects/examine system components such as receiver controls, electronic, pneumatic controls, dampers, and valves to detect mechanical, electrical, electronic and pneumatic malfunctions making recommendations, necessary repairs or replacement
• Has functional working knowledge of Building Automation Systems and related HVAC equipment
• Troubleshoots HVAC and mechanical systems
• Performs root cause analysis to identify failure and needed repairs to maintain safe and efficient operations
• Must solder, braze and weld all types of materials such as brass, copper, & aluminum alloys
• Acts in the capacity of instructor, troubleshooter and specialist
• Leads by example understanding own limitations and strives to learn more
• Investigates shutdowns, documents and provides notice to customers, trades and outside contractors
• Works with trades and outside contractors as necessary keeping the quality of work and costs in line
• Must work with refrigerants and refrigeration equipment documenting results in the University CFC log, meeting EPA, local and State laws

• High school education and 4-6 years experience as a building HVAC and controls mechanic
• experience in an electrical/mechanical trade education or related environment
• or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
• Ability to read and write English and make mathematical calculations required
• Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations required

Preferred candidates will have an associate's degree in a relevant field
