Job Responsibility:

  • Repairs and maintains buildings and most utility systems and equipment, performing a variety of services and skills, including repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment, machines and facilities
  • Repairs mechanical equipment by disassembling, replacing components, reassembling, and alignment and adjustment to common tolerances
  • Repairs certain electrical and plumbing lines, and most types of fixtures and equipment
  • Repairs or replaces certain components of buildings such as tile, doors, walls, windows, stairs, roofs, woodwork, and cabinets
  • Receives and answers service requests and trouble calls
  • Initiates requisitions for spare parts, supplies, and special services, and maintains a stock of commonly used spare parts
  • Works from blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and from verbal instructions
  • Keeps records and makes reports of daily work
  • Compiles with safety regulations of the University and of local, state and federal agencies
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and insures that tools and equipment are kept in good working order
  • Performs other duties requiring comparable skill and responsibility as directed
