Job Responsibility:
Repairs and maintains buildings and most utility systems and equipment, performing a variety of services and skills, including repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment, machines and facilities
Repairs mechanical equipment by disassembling, replacing components, reassembling, and alignment and adjustment to common tolerances
Repairs certain electrical and plumbing lines, and most types of fixtures and equipment
Repairs or replaces certain components of buildings such as tile, doors, walls, windows, stairs, roofs, woodwork, and cabinets
Receives and answers service requests and trouble calls
Initiates requisitions for spare parts, supplies, and special services, and maintains a stock of commonly used spare parts
Works from blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and from verbal instructions
Keeps records and makes reports of daily work
Compiles with safety regulations of the University and of local, state and federal agencies
Maintains cleanliness of work area and insures that tools and equipment are kept in good working order
Performs other duties requiring comparable skill and responsibility as directed
Requirements:
High school diploma plus 2-4 years experience in a mechanical/building trades or related environment
Ability to read and write English and make mathematical calculations
Depending upon functional area, may require a valid motor vehicle operator's license and the ability to operate vehicles in a troublefree, safe, and skillful manner
