Responsible for the effective installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. The engineer ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational goals and objectives.
Job Responsibility:
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes
Configure and install VMware, Microsoft and Linux servers, network equipment and third-party software
Manage and maintain end-user access to Active Directory systems, services, servers, devices, and desktop/laptop computers
Document activities utilizing the Hunter Douglas ticketing system
Work with the appropriate IT group to promptly resolve situations
Maintain relevant technical knowledge to help Hunter Douglas succeed and thrive in Information Technology
Perform any related or miscellaneous duties necessary for the efficiency of the department and Hunter Douglas
Develop and maintain a Disaster Recovery process on systems under your responsibility and participate in Disaster Recover Exercises as needed
Develop and implement data archiving techniques and serve as a data archiving expert
Implement new solutions based on best practices
Provide IT support across all divisions
Responsible and accountable for Microsoft Server and SQL Licensing
Responsible and accountable for VMware Licensing
Responsible and accountable for warranty/support renewals related to System Engineering
Administration of VMware, Nutanix, Windows and Linux hosts
Assist and backup the Systems, Network, Telecom and System Administrators when required
Requirements:
BS degree in Information Technology or five years of related experience combined with technical certification
Understanding of operating systems at an expert level
Cisco Networking: Advanced level knowledge on TCP/IP networks including routing and switching
VLAN and wireless architecture design and implementation
MCSE or equivalent training on relevant releases of Microsoft Server products from the past ten years including current releases
Understanding of operating systems at an administrative level: Linux, IoS, Oracle, VMware administration and SQL
Expert knowledge with Networking/ distributing computing concepts and client/ server programming
Expert knowledge with installation and maintenance of network cabling
Expert knowledge with server hardware & software installations
Expert knowledge in effective troubleshooting and problem solving
Expert knowledge of Network file systems
Expert knowledge working with Microsoft Server OS
Solid knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID and domain authentication
Solid knowledge in implementing site business continuity and site disaster recovery
Solid knowledge of business processes and functions with exceptional attention to detail
Solid knowledge in TCP/IP protocol
Basic knowledge of MPLS and SD-WAN protocols
Basic knowledge working with LINUX operating systems
Basic knowledge with configuration and maintenance of Cisco routers and switches
