Help keep Napier City Council’s IT systems running smoothly! Join us as an IT Support Technician and provide hands-on support, solve IT issues, and make a real impact across the organisation. In this role, you will provide first-line IT support to staff across the organisation, responding to service requests, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with the installation and maintenance of IT systems.
Job Responsibility:
Respond to common IT service requests and incidents, providing accurate information and support
Assist with installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of IT systems and equipment
Support user identity and access management tasks, maintaining accurate records
Contribute to knowledge bases and documentation to support service continuity
Escalate more complex issues and communicate effectively with users and team members
Participate in team initiatives, continuous learning, and process improvement
Requirements:
Diploma in Computer Studies (Level 5/6) or equivalent experience, or strong demonstrated interest in IT
Knowledge of MS Desktop OS, Office suite, networking basics, and PC principles
Experience in customer service, helpdesk, or support roles with exposure to troubleshooting or problem-solving
Strong communication skills and a proactive, solution-focused attitude
Ability to work in a team, manage competing demands, and maintain confidentiality
