Join STR’s Service Desk team as an Information Technology Support Specialist Co-op and gain hands-on experience supporting a real-world enterprise IT environment. This role is designed for students seeking an immersive, longer-term opportunity to apply classroom learning in a professional setting while developing practical IT administration and customer support skills. As a co-op, you will be an active member of the Service Desk, working alongside experienced IT professionals and receiving dedicated mentorship. You will support day-to-day operations, assist end users with technical issues, manage support requests, and contribute to special projects that support STR’s mission-critical work. You will be trusted to make informed decisions under moderate supervision while maintaining a high standard of professionalism. This is an excellent opportunity for students who want meaningful responsibility, exposure to enterprise IT systems, and experience supporting complex, real-world technical challenges.
Job Responsibility:
Provide efficient, high-quality first-line technical support for local, remote, and mobile staff
Troubleshoot, research, and resolve hardware, software, and user access issues in a professional and customer-focused manner
Perform hands-on desktop support, including system setup, software installation and upgrades, system configuration, and file backup support
Verify issue resolution and perform post-resolution follow-ups when appropriate
Create and manage user accounts in Active Directory
Prepare and deploy new computers for employees
Test and validate Windows and macOS system images
Assist with the maintenance of printers, scanners, copiers, and workstations
Support STR’s intern and co-op programs by configuring systems, administering access, providing first-line support, and reconciling equipment at program completion
Administer and support the IT Service Management (ITSM) system, including ticket ownership, triage, and assignment to appropriate IT teams.
Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree program related to Information Technology or a closely related field
Strong organizational, administrative, and time-management skills
Ability to quickly learn new IT systems and apply that knowledge in a support environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated interest in information technology and end-user support
This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by U.S. Government.
