Join our team as an IT Security Engineer and work on a European Commission initiative to enhance customs processes. Job Responsibility

  • Design, implement, and maintain security solutions to protect the organization’s network, systems, applications, and data
  • Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and address security weaknesses
  • Respond to and investigate security incidents, providing timely resolutions and post-incident reports
  • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure organizational compliance with security best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor security tools (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM systems) to detect and respond to threats in real time
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security is embedded into all system development, deployment, and maintenance processes
  • Implement and manage identity and access management (IAM) solutions to ensure proper user authentication and authorization
  • Conduct regular security audits and work with internal teams to remediate identified vulnerabilities and improve system security
  • Stay updated on the latest security threats, trends, and technologies, and recommend security improvements
  • Provide guidance and training to employees on security best practices and emerging threats
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to security policies, procedures, and system configurations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Informatics/ or similar field of study/or equivalent working experience is required
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a similar role
  • ITIL certification (highly desirable) and experience with service management tools such as ServiceNow (a plus)
  • Proven experience as an IT Security Engineer, Network Security Engineer, or in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, VPNs) and network security technologies (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, proxies)
  • Proficiency in security tools and technologies such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, encryption, and multi-factor authentication
  • Experience with vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys) and penetration testing techniques
  • Familiarity with IT security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, PCI-DSS, GDPR)
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud security models and tools
  • Knowledge of identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and data protection principles
  • Experience with scripting and automation to streamline security processes (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically under pressure
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to interact with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+, or similar credentials
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and integrating security into continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Experience with security in hybrid and multi-cloud environments
  • Knowledge of incident response and digital forensics
  • Excellent command of both spoken and written English
