Job Description

The IT Project Manager II is a member of a cross-functional team where teamwork, collaboration, balancing competing priorities and continuous learning are the norm. Responsibilities include end-to-end project management services of small to medium projects or management of portions of large projects with coaching and guidance, upon request of leadership. Conforms to established guidelines, standards, and conventions for project management and business requirements documentation.

Job Responsibility

  • Manages small to medium assigned IT projects independently
  • Gathers input from team members on required tasks and translates into a project plan
  • Monitors progress of project activities and ensures all critical implementation criteria are met
  • Coordinates with Architects, Team Leads, Resource Managers, IT Leaders, and Sponsors
  • Facilitates project meetings
  • Develops and maintains reporting dashboards
  • Conducts post-project “lessons learned” sessions
  • Provides status reports to steering committees
  • Utilizes a variety of project management methodologies
  • Manages project scope and timeline
  • Identifies, tracks, and manages risks and mitigation plans
  • Identifies, tracks, and manages issues to resolution
  • Determines scope of the problem/project through collaboration
  • Collaborates with technical team leads and/or Resource Managers to assign appropriate resources
  • Obtains necessary approvals
  • Keeps current with business and strategic goals
  • Understands other University service providers
  • Stays apprised of team's roles, processes, tools, and architecture
  • Attends webinars, reads case studies and white papers
  • Builds and maintains internal departmental relationships
  • Makes presentations to staff on work-related issues
  • Serves on committees and attends meetings as requested

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of relevant experience required
  • Detail-oriented with a proven ability to manage projects required
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI within 1 year required

Nice to have

  • Experience in healthcare or higher education field preferred
  • Service Now, Jira, Smartsheet, Clarity PPM, or Project Portfolio Management (PPM) software experience preferred
  • Extensive computer literacy, including Microsoft Project, Teams and PowerPoint preferred
