IT Project Manager – Construction / Infrastructure

Job Description

The IT Project Manager will lead and coordinate IT workstreams related to major construction and renovation projects at UCSF’s Mission Bay Campus. This role will split time between: a new building development and a comprehensive renovation of an existing building.

Job Responsibility

  • Drive IT planning, design, and implementation across each project
  • Coordinate with infrastructure, security, and applications teams to define and deliver IT scope
  • Work closely with UCSF Real Estate and external partners (low-voltage vendors, general contractors, HVAC, and other trades) to align IT work with construction schedules
  • Manage project plans, timelines, dependencies, risks, and issues specific to IT in a construction context
  • Ensure IT infrastructure and services (network, AV, workstations, peripherals, BMS integrations, and business/clinical applications) are designed, installed, tested, and ready for building activation
  • Lead stakeholder communications and status reporting to IT leadership and project governance bodies

Requirements

  • 8+ years of IT project management experience on construction projects
  • Proven track record delivering IT components for new construction and major renovations
  • Hands-on experience managing: network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi)
  • AV systems
  • workstations, end-user devices, peripherals
  • business and/or clinical applications impacted by construction/moves
  • BMS / building systems or closely related technologies
  • Strong background working with: internal IT groups (infrastructure, security, applications)
  • real estate / facilities
  • external vendors: low-voltage, GC, HVAC, and specialty contractors
  • Excellent stakeholder management, vendor management, and communication skills
  • Ability to operate in a complex academic medical environment with multiple parallel workstreams and governance structures

Nice to have

  • PMP certification
  • RCDD certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Prior experience in an academic medical center or healthcare environment is strongly preferred
