Take ownership of configuring, deploying, and supporting a wide range of enterprise network systems, including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, access points, and storage networking technologies, following established best‑practice standards
Develop and maintain clear internal documentation covering network designs, system configurations, topology maps, lifecycle changes, patch schedules, and service histories
Use network monitoring and alerting platforms (such as SolarWinds, Servers Alive, or FortiCloud) to identify issues proactively and resolve them before they impact operations
Provide written recommendations on long‑term network improvements, capacity planning, and security enhancements
Assess the overall network architecture to ensure it aligns with departmental needs and supports system performance, application delivery, and user experience
Configure and maintain enterprise firewalls, including routing, VPN tunnels, and encryption settings, following security best practices
Perform research and apply firmware updates, hotfixes, and patches for critical network and server systems
Manage and support both virtualized and physical server environments
Requirements:
Strong command of TCP/IP fundamentals and hands‑on experience with VLANs, Layer 2/3 routing, spanning‑tree variations, and common static/dynamic routing protocols
Good understanding of high‑availability and redundancy technologies, including link aggregation (LAG/LACP) and automated failover
Able to troubleshoot complex issues independently or collaboratively by isolating problems, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions
Confident working with vendors for escalated support and capable of documenting vendor guidance and resolutions
Ability to analyze firmware and patch notes to determine potential environmental impact
Skilled at diagnosing issues across both virtual and physical networking layers, including VLAN segmentation
Familiarity with modern VoIP platforms (Call Manager, Unity, Cisco ER, contact center technologies, SIP, Webex, Teams)
Experience with VMware and virtual computing infrastructures
General understanding of hybrid Active Directory environments, especially around authentication, authorization, and security
Basic understanding of certificate creation, installation, and usage
Familiarity with system backup strategies and restoration processes
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related technical discipline preferred
Certifications such as Network+, Security+, CCNA, or equivalent industry credentials are desirable
3–5 years of hands‑on experience in several core networking areas: Switching, Routing, Firewalls, Wireless systems
Must hold or be able to obtain a valid Texas driver’s license.
