We are looking for an IT Engineer to support and strengthen a fast-paced internal technology environment. This contract position is ideal for someone who enjoys combining hands-on user support with operational improvement across endpoint management, access administration, and workplace technology. The role will focus on maintaining a predominantly Mac-based device fleet, streamlining employee lifecycle processes, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable IT services. This is a hybrid contract located in San Francisco.
Job Responsibility
Oversee the health and ongoing development of a largely Mac-based corporate environment while also supporting Windows systems used by select business teams
Manage the full device lifecycle, including procurement coordination, deployment preparation, shipping, returns, replacements, repair tracking, and inventory accuracy
Provide day-to-day employee technical support by assessing incoming issues, resolving common problems efficiently, and escalating complex cases when needed
Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities with the People team to ensure timely equipment setup, account readiness, and secure access changes
Support high-volume onboarding periods such as intern start dates by preparing hardware, accounts, and related provisioning tasks in advance
Administer and improve identity and access processes using tools such as Okta, including account configuration, permission reviews, and access governance activities
Partner with DevOps, Security, Engineering, Quality, and People stakeholders to introduce new tools, support evaluations, and close technical gaps tied to adoption
Automate repeatable work across provisioning, asset management, and reporting to improve consistency and reduce manual effort
Maintain clear internal documentation, operational runbooks, and standard procedures while also supporting office technology such as conferencing systems, A/V equipment, and basic networking needs
Deliver onsite assistance in the San Francisco, California office as needed, including support for local technology issues and process improvements across ticketing and tooling workflows
Requirements
Proven experience supporting Apple devices and macOS in a business environment with familiarity managing mixed-platform fleets
Hands-on knowledge of desktop and workstation hardware, including troubleshooting, replacement coordination, and general endpoint support
Experience with identity and access management platforms such as Okta, including user setup, deprovisioning, and permission administration
Familiarity with MDM technologies and endpoint management practices for provisioning, policy enforcement, and device maintenance
Ability to manage multiple support requests while maintaining strong service quality, clear prioritization, and effective follow-through
Experience creating or improving technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and support runbooks
Comfortable working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams to improve workflows and deliver dependable IT operations
