Job Description

My client based in Dublin are seeking an experienced IT Development Lead to drive a major modernisation programme across a complex enterprise environment. Hybrid: 3 days per week onsite This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining architecture, cloud transformation, and engineering delivery, with a strong focus on modernising legacy platforms and embedding AI-driven development practices.

Job Responsibility

  • Own and improve the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle, embedding CI/CD, DevOps, and automation best practices
  • Lead the migration from legacy integration platforms to modern cloud-based architectures
  • Define and enforce Azure cloud standards, patterns, and guardrails
  • Manage and optimise cloud environments with a focus on cost, security, and resilience
  • Champion the adoption of AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, etc.)
  • Establish governance for AI-generated code, quality, and security standards
  • Identify opportunities for AI across the SDLC including testing, monitoring, and incident response
  • Work closely with stakeholders on prioritisation, architecture decisions, and delivery planning
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and delivery partners
  • Mentor engineers and support capability growth across cloud and modern engineering practices

Requirements

  • 10+ years’ software development experience, including 3–5+ years in technical leadership
  • Strong experience in cloud transformation programmes (Azure preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with modern stacks such as .NET, Node.js, Python, React, TypeScript
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, or similar tooling
  • Experience delivering cloud migrations and legacy system modernisation
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and workflows
  • Experience working with vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams

Nice to have

  • Azure certifications (AZ-305, AZ-400)
  • Experience with event-driven or serverless architectures
  • Exposure to FinOps / cloud cost optimisation
  • Experience implementing GenAI solutions in enterprise environments
  • Background in insurance or automotive sectors
