The IT Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing the cloud and on-premises IT infrastructure for a large university, with a primary focus on AWS technologies. This role involves developing strategic roadmaps, ensuring secure and scalable architectures, and implementing microsegmentation strategies with Guardicore. The IT Architect collaborates with IT leadership, security teams, and application development groups to ensure the university's IT infrastructure aligns with organizational goals and industry best practices.
Job Responsibility:
Designing, implementing, and optimizing the cloud and on-premises IT infrastructure for a large university, with a primary focus on AWS technologies
Developing strategic roadmaps
Ensuring secure and scalable architectures
Implementing microsegmentation strategies with Guardicore
Collaborating with IT leadership, security teams, and application development groups to ensure the university's IT infrastructure aligns with organizational goals and industry best practices
Develop solutions for non‑standard problems/issues
Make recommendations for ways to improve workflow
Make recommendations to service owners on how to migrate services to the cloud, implement cloud tools and re-architect applications to be cloud
Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and nine years of relevant experience
Requirements may be met through a combination of work experience and education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
7+ years of experience in IT architecture, cloud computing, or enterprise infrastructure
Strong expertise in AWS services, architectures, and cloud security best practices
Experience with Guardicore or similar microsegmentation tools
Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and on-premises infrastructure
Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Terraform)
Strong knowledge of networking, security, and identity managements
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or similar certification
Experience in a higher education IT environment
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS/EKS)
Familiarity with VMware, Active Directory, and enterprise networking
Strong leadership and collaboration skills
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship

Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS/EKS)
