The iSeries AS/400 Developer role requires an experienced professional with strong skills in CLLE, RPGLE, and SQL to enhance and modernize IBM i-based applications. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the iSeries ecosystem and be able to work on both new development and legacy system maintenance.
Job Responsibility:
Design, develop, test, and maintain applications on the iSeries/AS400 platform
Write, debug, and optimize programs using CLLE, RPGLE (free and fixed form), and SQL
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and solutions
Maintain and enhance existing applications, ensuring stability, scalability, and performance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve application issues
Perform data analysis, data manipulation, and design of SQL queries, views, and stored procedures
Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture improvements
Support production deployments and provide on-call assistance as needed
Document technical designs, processes, and system configurations
Requirements:
3–7+ years of hands-on development experience on IBM i / AS400 / iSeries systems
Strong command of CLLE and RPGLE (including modern free-form RPG)
Proficiency with SQL on IBM i (DDL, DML, performance tuning, query optimization)
Solid understanding of iSeries/AS400 system fundamentals, job queues, file structures, and libraries
Ability to read, analyze, and modify existing codebases
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Effective communication skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred
Nice to have:
GMI application experience or exposure (highly beneficial)
Familiarity with modern IBM i tools, APIs, or integration technologies
Experience working in Agile or hybrid development environments
Knowledge of change management tools (e.g., Turnover, Aldon, Jira, or similar)
Experience with modernization initiatives within iSeries environments
