Job Description:

Join the Agronomy team at Desert Mountain Club as an Irrigation Technician. In this role, you will assist in maintaining, repairing, and monitoring all facets of the irrigation system including pumps, piping, valves, heads, PRV’s, and suction screens, and perform related work as required.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist Manager or Irrigation Technician II in maintaining and performing repairs on complex irrigation (automatic) systems
  • Hand waters golf course as directed by supervisors
  • Perform technical tasks and manual labor involved in maintaining and repairing golf course irrigation systems
  • Operate and maintain pumping equipment
  • Read water flow meters
  • Repair broken pipe and swing joints
  • Perform preventive maintenance on Cla-valves, PRV screens (including pressure settings)
  • Change head spacing for more effective water distribution
  • Raise or lower irrigation heads as required
  • Monitor and reset angle of spray on part-circle heads so that only turf is irrigated
  • Maintain drainage systems and equipment
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors and management

Requirements:

  • At least one year of experience in golf course maintenance
  • Familiarity with basic irrigation practices
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Team player with a great attitude and strong work ethic
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle
  • Required to stand and walk – Frequently
  • Required to lift and/or push and/or pull up to 80 pounds – Occasionally
  • Required to work in an outdoor working environment – Constantly
  • Exposed to extreme temperatures and inclement weather – Regularly
  • Required to work in trenches to repair pipes in uncomfortable positions and confined spaces - Regularly
