Job Responsibility

  • Responsible for setting up interventional radiology (IR) rooms specific to the study being conducted
  • Utilizes customer service skills while interacting with patients as well as family members to create a caring atmosphere during their visit
  • Progresses towards proficient and competent performance with regards to interventional procedures, fluoroscopy room equipment, digital subtraction, inventory, power injections and post processing tools
  • Prepares room and patient specific to the exam to be performed
  • Arranges equipment, trays, supplies, position patients, and determine proper exposure factors to produce a high quality image
  • Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider
  • Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure
  • Observes each patient’s status and interprets appropriate information needed to meet age-specific needs
  • Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transferboards, hover mats
  • Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent to PACS system correctly
  • Completes and bills for studies accurately
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required
  • 1 year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist - current NYS licensure upon hire required
  • ARRT Radiography Certification with CE credits upon hire required

  • Operates radiologic equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images
  • Selects appropriate technical factors (kVp, mAs, exposure time, focal spot, SID) for optimal image quality and minimal radiation dose
  • Performs quality control checks on equipment as required
  • Utilizes Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS) for image acquisition, archiving, and patient information management
