The Manager, Industrial OT is responsible for the strategy, governance, and enterprise delivery of connected‑operations capabilities across the company’s U.S. sawmill and OSB facilities. This role partners with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Finance and IT to improve network infrastructure, security, data acquisition, storage, retrieval, processing and analytics to ensure fast, accurate real‑time visibility, enable advanced analytical tools, improve information exchange with internal and external resources while enhancing and strengthening safety, reliability, uptime, and cost performance. The position oversees a team of OT technicians and application specialists and is accountable for portfolio prioritization, standards, and value realization across multiple sites as well as executing on the OT roadmap. This role is also responsible for evaluating, selecting and managing contracts and relations with service providers to create and improve strategic relationships, secure service continuity while managing contractual engagements and financial obligations.
Job Responsibility:
Define and lead the Industrial OT vision, roadmap, and operating model for sawmill and OSB operations
Manage the enterprise OT portfolio, including prioritization, business cases, funding, schedules, and value realization
Build and lead a high‑performing team
hire, coach, and develop talent to support multi‑site delivery
Oversee the continuous improvement of software administrated, supported and/or utilized by OT ensuring adoption, sustainability, standardization and supportability
Establish and enforce standards for OT data acquisition, architecture, connectivity, security zones, historians, naming conventions, data quality, and lifecycle management
Ensure solutions are operationally ready with complete documentation, testing, training, and handoff to remote/local support teams
Co‑lead OT cybersecurity governance with IT/OT security teams, including segmentation, access controls, patching, vulnerability management, and incident response alignment
Work with operation leadership to reduce unplanned downtime and improve productivity throughput, quality, and reliability
Work with Data Science division to optimize data reporting, analytics and modeling to improve productivity across all areas of business
Oversee vendor strategy and performance, including contracts, SLAs, and total cost of ownership
Communicate progress, risks, and changes to executive stakeholders and drive adoption at all site levels
Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance operations
Expand, enhance and support corporate CCTV and vision systems, integrating both into site security, production improvement and data generation
Develop, manage, co-manage and support execution of Capex projects
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science/IT, Industrial Technology, or equivalent practical experience
10+ years of experience delivering industrial OT technology, connected operations, and manufacturing data solutions in heavy industry (wood products preferred)
5+ years of people leadership experience, including managing direct reports
proven ability to build teams, develop talent, and lead through influence in multi-site organizations
Experience owning program/portfolio delivery (prioritization, budgets, vendor management, and operational handoff) with measurable business outcomes
Strong understanding of industrial networking and OT cybersecurity concepts (segmentation, identity/access, patching coordination, vulnerability management) and experience partnering with security teams
Strong stakeholder leadership with the ability to translate mill needs into scalable standards, drive adoption, and communicate clearly to plant and executive audiences
Nice to have:
Experience with common OT platforms used in plant‑floor operations
Exposure to condition monitoring and reliability of network and server infrastructure
Hands‑on experience with cloud or hybrid architectures for manufacturing data (Azure, AWS, Google, or private cloud)
Familiarity with industrial safety and compliance requirements in the U.S. and Canada
Knowledge of Agile or iterative delivery methods and basic financial value tracking
