Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Lead to join BlackRock’s Fundamental Equity Product Strategy team. This role is designed for a technologist with a passion for automation, data-driven process improvement, and strategic product management. The successful candidate will primarily focus on developing and implementing automation solutions to improve team efficiency, while also contributing to core product strategy responsibilities over time.

Job Responsibility:

  • Identify, design, and build automations to streamline reporting, data management, and client collateral production
  • Support workflow and automation initiatives: Identify process improvements and develop scalable tools to enhance team productivity. Automate data extraction and aggregation from platforms such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar, and Aladdin. Streamline the generation and distribution of client presentations, factsheets, and commentaries
  • Assist with business intelligence and analytics: consolidating data and drive insights into sector trends and competitor insights such as (flows, performance, market share) to inform sector team decisions and executive communications
  • Maintain and enhance reports and dashboards (Morningstar, eVestment, FactSet, Power BI) for management and performance tracking
  • Integration of new AI tools and data vendors to improve analytics and insights
  • Execute and coordinate cross-functional projects: partner with FE product strategy platform team and broader BlackRock data leads to proactively identify successful initiatives that can be implemented into team workflows
  • Proactively seek opportunities to further streamline processes and drive automation processes to completion
  • Lead the expansion and integration of the team’s technology stack, ensuring seamless workflows and data accessibility
  • Act as a technology ambassador, sharing best practices and driving innovation across the Fundamental Equities division
  • Continuously evaluate and demo new tools, data vendors, and AI products to keep the team at the forefront of technology
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of equity markets, products, and investment processes
  • Assist senior Product Strategists by delivering bespoke materials, performance and competitor analytics
  • Help with production of standard client collateral such as presentations, factsheets, and commentaries
  • Respond to client and prospect inquiries, support RFI/DDQ production while proactively identifying ways to implement automation opportunities
  • Collate and analyze performance attribution, exposure, AUM, and flows data
  • Build and maintain database reports (e.g., Morningstar, eVestment, FactSet)
  • Support innovation projects focused on efficiency gains and generating further insights

Requirements:

  • 3+ years in financial services, preferably with a focus on equity markets and technology-driven process improvement
  • Experience in full-stack development, with expertise in both front-end and back-end technologies
  • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and modern database technologies (Snowflake, Azure, GCP)
  • Familiarity with front-end and visualization frameworks such as Tableau, Streamlit, JavaScript, React, or Flask/Dash is an advantage
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Co-Pilot
  • Tableau and PowerBI are a plus
  • Experience with tools like FactSet and Bloomberg is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills across both verbal and written mediums
