Job Description

A manufacturing and distribution company specializing in webbing products is seeking a hands-on inventory and ecommerce operations specialist to design and implement a structured inventory system from a fully manual environment. This role will establish SKU structure, inventory tracking processes, and launch product listings on an ecommerce platform. There is currently no ERP system in place, and all processes are manual. The ideal candidate has previously built or overhauled inventory systems from scratch and successfully transitioned physical inventory into a functional online sales environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Assess current manual inventory tracking methods and identify gaps
  • Design and implement a structured inventory system from the ground up
  • Establish SKU creation standards and product categorization logic
  • Build a scalable inventory tracking process using spreadsheets or lightweight tools
  • Create standardized procedures for receiving, tracking, and adjusting inventory
  • Implement cycle count and reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy
  • Build and upload product listings to ecommerce platform (Shopify, Amazon, or similar)
  • Create product data structure including descriptions, pricing, images, and variants
  • Ensure inventory levels are accurately reflected online
  • Organize product catalog for customer usability and search optimization
  • Coordinate product launch readiness from backend to frontend sales
  • Document all inventory and ecommerce workflows
  • Train internal staff on inventory entry, updates, and order processing
  • Establish simple, repeatable processes that can be maintained without an ERP
  • Provide guidance on scaling into a future system if needed
  • Identify inefficiencies in current manual workflow
  • Recommend low-cost tools or systems to improve accuracy and speed
  • Reduce stock discrepancies and improve inventory visibility
  • Support integration between inventory tracking and order fulfillment

Requirements

  • Proven experience building inventory systems from scratch in a manual or non-ERP environment
  • Hands-on ecommerce experience (Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, WooCommerce, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of SKU structure, product catalogs, and inventory lifecycle
  • Experience managing physical inventory in a warehouse or distribution setting
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills (lookups, pivot tables, tracking models)
  • Ability to design simple but scalable operational processes
  • Experience launching or migrating product catalogs online
  • Strong problem-solving ability in low-system or startup-style environments
