Job Description:

Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Inventory Accountant for ongoing opportunities with our clients in need of accounting professionals. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage and reconcile inventory activities accurately while supporting the accounting and operations teams in achieving company objectives. This position offers the opportunity to grow in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and you will contribute to the financial health and accuracy of inventory operations for our clients.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee and maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring all discrepancies are identified, investigated, and resolved promptly
  • Perform reconciliation of inventory accounts, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods, to align with general ledger accounts
  • Generate, analyze, and present reports on inventory levels, costs, and variances to management
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries related to inventory
  • Assist with physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and audits, and ensure that inventory control systems are updated regularly
  • Work closely with operations and procurement teams to ensure inventory accuracy and process improvements
  • Continuously improve and streamline inventory accounting policies, workflows, and systems

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven accounting experience, with a strong preference for exposure to inventory-related accounting
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices related to inventory and its impact on the financial statements
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including advanced functions, formulas, and data manipulation capabilities
  • Exceptional accuracy and focus on details to ensure precise inventory tracking and analysis
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) to collaborate seamlessly with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment

Previous experience working with inventory-related accounting is highly preferred
