Job Description:

Performs a variety of patient care duties and other professional activities as needed to facilitate patient care and treatment. Performs under the supervision of a radiology technologist. Assists in monitoring the flow of patient activities in the department.

Job Responsibility:

  • Performs basic diagnostic x-rays supervised by a radiology technologist
  • Identifies and assists patients with questions about procedures
  • Prepares patients for exam and ensures patient safety in the absence of the radiology technologist
  • Obtains medications, radiopharmaeceuticals, or contrast media materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist or registered nurse
  • Assists physicians and technologists in the performance of diagnostic exams based on assigned modality and career pursuits (Rad/Fluro, CT, IR, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound) to include procedures requiring the administration of contrast media
  • Retrieves patient orders and requisitions while supporting administrative or miscellaneous work tasks in the RIS, EMR, or other standard applications required in the workflow for diagnostic exams
  • Assists patients to restrooms, with bedpans, urinals and other ancillary clinical support needs as required
  • Assists with administrative duties, quality assurance, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED with preliminary coursework toward a certificate or degree in a medical imaging field
  • Clinical experience based on the educational program affiliated with the pursuit of career in medical imaging
  • Medical clerical skills preferred
  • Radiology program Senior/rising senior student preferred
