Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Intervention Support Assistant to join our specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) provision for students from Year 7 upwards. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who need tailored support to thrive both academically and emotionally.

Job Responsibility

  • Ensure pastoral and behaviour needs are met effectively both on and off-site
  • Communicate pastoral and behaviour concerns with parents, carers, and staff
  • Design and deliver interventions, programmes, and activities to support learning and self-management of behaviour
  • Act as an immediate responder to pastoral and challenging behaviour issues
  • Supervise and monitor reporting of significant incidents, including restrictive physical interventions, and analyse behaviour trends
  • Coordinate pastoral and behaviour support under the guidance of the Behaviour Lead/IST Operations Lead
  • Lead Student Voice initiatives within the school
  • Support Risk Assessment (RA) and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) updates
  • Track and monitor social and emotional development across the student body

Requirements

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or in a pastoral/intervention role
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to challenging situations
  • A proactive, empathetic approach to supporting students’ emotional and behavioural development
  • A full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle (due to location)
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
