Job Responsibility:

  • Provides direct American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services to deaf/hard of hearing (DHH) as assigned throughout the University to patients, their families and others
  • Provides required interpretation at scheduled times or upon emergency request
  • Receives assignment of appointments and may schedule appointments for provision of interpretation
  • Maintains required records
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience interpreting in a health care setting preferred
  • RID - Interpreter for the Deaf Licensure and adherence to tenets within the RID Interpreter Code of Professional Conduct upon hire required
  • Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) or similar National Certification upon hire preferred
