Job Description

Are you interested in finance and hospitality and eager to gain hands-on experience in cost control across multiple hotels? As a Cost Control Intern, you will join our Finance team in Ghent and support the Cost Controller in monitoring, analysing, and optimising operational costs. You will learn how finance drives efficiency and profitability in the hospitality sector, while working alongside F&B, Procurement, and Operations teams.

Job Responsibility

  • Assisting with inventory and stock control for F&B, housekeeping, maintenance, and other stores
  • Helping monitor and analyse cost ratios (food, beverage, consumables) and investigating variances
  • Supporting purchase order tracking and supplier pricing reviews
  • Collaborating with Chefs and F&B Managers on menu costing and recipe standardisation
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly cost reports and financial documentation
  • Helping implement digital tools and dashboards for cost monitoring
  • Learning to promote cost awareness within the cluster and support process harmonisation initiatives

Requirements

  • Studying finance, accounting, hotel management, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Eager to learn, detail-oriented, and committed to accuracy
  • Proficient with Excel and willing to learn reporting tools
  • Communicate clearly and constructively with others
  • Team player and flexible in approach to tasks
  • Fluent English (any other language is a plus)
  • Bonus: any experience with Opera, Symphony, Lightspeed, Venice, or Birchstreet is a plus
