The Continuous Improvement (ABS) Intern will support site-wide productivity and operational excellence initiatives. This role provides hands‑on experience in Lean principles, 5S practices, and manufacturing process optimization. The intern will collaborate with Continuous Improvement teams to improve workflows, support project execution, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Job Responsibility:
Assist with 5S productivity initiatives, including organization, standardization, and workplace efficiency improvements
Support designing layouts for process improvement projects (e.g., material flow, workstation design, floor layouts)
Provide general support for ongoing Continuous Improvement project activities, which may include data collection, process mapping, documentation, and presenting findings
Partner with CI team members to identify opportunities for waste reduction, improved safety, and efficiency
Contribute to project planning, execution, and follow‑up tasks as assigned
Support improvement activities that contribute to reduced waste, optimized resource usage, and environmentally responsible facility operations
Follow all environmental policies and procedures while working in production areas
Adhere strictly to all plant safety rules, PPE requirements, and reporting procedures
Participate in identifying safety improvement opportunities within 5S and layout design projects
Maintain safe behaviors while conducting project work in manufacturing areas
Requirements:
Current enrollment in a degree program related to: Lean Manufacturing
Industrial Engineering
Manufacturing Engineering
Operations Management
Or a similar field of study
Interest in continuous improvement, manufacturing processes, and Lean principles
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams
Solid organizational skills and attention to detail—especially related to 5S and documentation
Basic understanding of manufacturing principles and continuous improvement concepts
Willingness to learn, take initiative, and contribute to hands‑on project work
Nice to have:
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing concepts such as 5S, waste reduction, or process mapping
Experience or coursework involving layout design, process analysis, or manufacturing systems
