Job Description:

The Internal Policy and Communications Intern will support the team with various employee engagement and policy governance functions. The team delivers leadership communications, turns complex initiatives into clear and practical guidance for employees, and manages internal policies that shape how the agency operates.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist with researching, writing, and updating agency policies and forms
  • Assist with the coordination between departments on internal policy activities
  • Assist with development of an inventory and central repository for agency governance documents
  • Assist with monitoring and supporting the ongoing maintenance of agency governance documents
  • Assist with employee engagement/experience activities
  • Support, coordinate, and participate in various meetings
  • Assist with other related administrative tasks

Requirements:

  • College level coursework in public policy, public administration, communications, marketing, or a related field
  • Experience completing complex assignments that involve researching, analyzing, and synthesizing information into written summaries, reports, or recommendations
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite of products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional writing skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and deliver clear messages
  • Flexibility and willingness to perform a variety of tasks typical of an entry-level position
  • Understanding of local and regional government agencies and public policy
