As an Internal Audit Specialist, you’ll lead and deliver end‑to‑end internal audit engagements across a diverse and complex ASX‑listed business. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll partner closely with leaders across the business — from frontline operations through to Senior management and Group Executives — to deliver practical, risk‑based audit insights that make a real difference. You’ll apply contemporary internal audit and risk thinking, leverage sound professional judgement, and help shape how Aurizon continues to mature its risk and control environment.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and deliver end‑to‑end internal audit engagements, independently and as part of a collaborative team
Deliver internal audits in line with the Aurizon Internal Audit Methodology and relevant professional standards
Prepare clear, high‑quality internal audit reports that articulate findings, root causes and practical recommendations
Present audit outcomes and insights to line management, senior leaders and other key stakeholders
Collaborate with external co‑source partners to optimise delivery and drive continuous improvement
Monitor, validate and report on internal audit recommendations, including assessing the adequacy of management actions and identifying emerging risks
Contribute to the development of the Internal Audit Plan and support reporting to senior leadership and Board Committees
Act as a strong ambassador for the Internal Audit function, building trust and credibility across the business
Requirements:
A relevant tertiary qualification (mandatory)
Ideally 5+ years’ experience in internal audit or risk assurance, gained in professional services and/or industry (ASX‑listed or Audit firm experience highly regarded, but not mandatory)
Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess complex processes and controls using sound professional judgement
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to influence and engage senior stakeholders
Business and commercial acumen with the ability to take an enterprise‑wide view
Proven ability to work autonomously while also collaborating effectively within a team
