Within the sub‑department “Virtual Engineering Solutions” of Volkswagen Group Innovation, virtual methods from various disciplines are further developed for the design and optimization of current and future vehicle generations. The goal is to hand over these improved tools to the respective development departments of the brands. In the “Human Body Modeling Team,” we advance finite element (FE) human body models, with a particular focus on improving their biofidelity in order to address complex questions in the field of vehicle safety. The internship assignment will focus on “processing experimental data and its application in finite element human body model simulations.” As part of your internship, you will support us in this area of work.
Job Responsibility:
Further processing of experimentally obtained data for the validation of human body models
Analysis of data from existing tests, such as kinematics from video recordings, force and acceleration profiles, etc.
Transfer of the experimental boundary conditions into the virtual validation environment by performing an explicit finite element analysis using the software Virtual Performance Solution (Pamcrash)
Requirements:
Students of mechanical engineering, physics, biomechanics, mechatronics or similar
Experience in programming with Matlab and Python
Basic knowledge of statistical data analysis
Basic knowledge of the finite element method
Cover letter and Curriculum Vitae
Certificate of enrolment
Current transcript of records
In the case of a compulsory internship, an additional certificate from the university
