The Social Development Division/ Sustainable Socioeconomic Transformation Section internship is for 2-4 months with an opportunity for extension up to 6 months. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (37.5 hours) under the supervision of a staff member. SETS covers the thematic areas of poverty reduction, financing for social development, inequality and social protection.
Job Responsibility:
Undertaking desk research and data processing, including statistical analysis through the use of various statistical and econometric programmes, including R, Excel, etc
Support the development of inputs to reports, summaries, and transcripts
Support in the development of materials and content for social media
Assistance in the organization of workshops, conferences, including the 9th Committee on Social Development, and expert group meetings
Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
(b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience
A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required
Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship
Nice to have:
Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable
Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage
