Job Description:

Labcorp is seeking a Hybrid Lab AI Intern to join our team located in California. Labcorp combines scientific expertise, advanced instrumentation, and data-driven innovation to deliver high-quality diagnostic testing at scale. The laboratory operations teams work closely with technology and analytics to continuously improve quality, efficiency, and turnaround time. This internship sits directly within the laboratory environment and focuses on applying AI and data insights to real-world lab workflows and challenges. The AI Intern will work on-site in the laboratory and function as an AI consultant to the lab team—observing workflows, identifying opportunities for optimization, and translating lab needs into data‑driven and AI-enabled solutions. This role emphasizes practical application, collaboration with bench staff and lab leadership, and hands-on exposure to diagnostic operations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Partner with laboratory staff to understand end-to-end workflows, instrumentation usage, and operational pain points
  • Act as a liaison between the lab team and technical partners by framing lab challenges as AI, data, or automation opportunities
  • Analyze laboratory, operational, and quality data to surface actionable insights and improvement opportunities
  • Support the development, testing, or evaluation of AI-based tools or decision-support solutions for lab operations
  • Assist in creating repeatable, easy-to-use analytical processes to support laboratory decision-making
  • Document findings and present recommendations to lab leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Participate in training sessions to learn enterprise data tools, AI platforms, and laboratory information systems
  • Engage in professional development workshops to enhance communication skills, consulting mindset, and professional presence

Requirements:

Current enrollment in a Bioinformatics, Biology, Chemistry, or related Bachelor’s degree program

Nice to have:

Minor in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or Computer Science
