Job Description:

As an intern, you will support the evaluation and development of sorbents and sorbent structures for DAC. You will gain hands-on experience in lab-based testing, data analysis, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the evaluation and development of sorbents and sorbent structures for DAC
  • Gain hands-on experience in lab-based testing, data analysis, and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Collaborate within an integrated team to carry out lab-based assessments, including adsorption characterization, accelerated lifetime testing, and process-relevant evaluations of novel materials
  • Investigate material stability by testing under accelerated aging conditions to simulate long-term performance
  • Characterize sorbent behaviour by measuring unary and binary isotherms under controlled conditions
  • Work independently on targeted work packages to understand how material properties influence DAC performance
  • Contribute to the development, refinement, and validation of experimental methods to ensure reliable and reproducible testing outcomes
  • Validate, troubleshoot, and clearly document your work to ensure effective communication across interdisciplinary development teams

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or working towards a master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or similar
  • Enjoy working hands-on in the lab
  • Some classroom or other experience with characterization of porous materials (N₂ adsorption, Hg porosimetry, DVS, etc.) or adsorption characterization (breakthrough testing)
  • Familiarity with CO₂ capture is beneficial but not required
  • Eager to learn new concepts, skills, and tools
  • Reliable, motivated, solution-oriented, concise, and have a structured working style
  • Available for a 6-month internship with a start date preferably in January/February 2026 or shortly thereafter
  • Fluent in English
  • knowledge of German or other languages is beneficial but not required

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with CO₂ capture
  • Knowledge of German or other languages
