CFRP prepregs need to be handled in a controlled environment - temperature and humidity - which is very energy intensive for large production facilities. The challenge of this position is to optimize energy efficiency of the system while adhering to temperature and humidity requirements. In this context you will work on creating the foundation to optimize climatized production environments which directly support sustainability in aviation production.
Job Responsibility:
Simulation & Modeling: Building a thermal-energetic simulation of our production hall and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) systems to map thermal loads and humidity dynamics
Data Validation: Benchmarking the simulation results against the real energy consumption and sensor data of our existing climate control systems
Optimization Analysis: Evaluating different technological options such as the implementation of climate chambers (room-in-room), local micro-climate conditioning, and optimized control strategies
Humidity Deep-Dive: Analyzing current system settings regarding dew point control, humidification, and dehumidification processes to identify energy-saving potentials
Presentation: Presenting your findings and proposed optimization concepts to stakeholders
Requirements:
Enrolled full-time student in the area of Engineering (Mechanical, Energy, Process Engineering) or an equivalent field of study
First practical experience in defining and implementing practical solutions is desirable
Fluent in German and/or English
Technical Knowledge: Good understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer
Software: Ideally, experience in simulation software (e.g., EnergyPlus or comparable) and combining software solutions like MATLAB/Simulink or Python
Practicality: Ability to work independently and on your own responsibility
Intrinsic motivation and interest in sustainability
Teamwork and communication skills
What we offer:
