Job Description

Our Buying teams are at the heart of Zalando’s fashion ecosystem, responsible for spotting the latest trends and ensuring we have the right product mix for our 50+ million active customers. As an Intern in Buying, you will support our buyers in managing brand relationships, preparing for seasonal high-points, and ensuring our assortment is both inspiring and commercially successful.

Job Responsibility

  • Support the Buying Process: Assist your team in the end-to-end seasonal buying process, from trend research and order placement and trading analysis
  • Maintain Brand Relationships: Act as a reliable point of contact for our brand partners, ensuring smooth communication and efficient sample management
  • Data-Driven Assortment Management: Support the preparation of seasonal trading analysis and reports to help optimize our assortment and drive commercial impact
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Merchandising, Marketing, and Content teams to ensure our products are showcased effectively on the Zalando platform
  • Operational Excellence: Take ownership of administrative tasks, including order raising, line sheet management, sample tracking and campaign briefings

Requirements

  • Passion for Fashion & Trends: keen eye for current Premium fashion trends and genuine interest in the e-commerce industry
  • Analytical Mindset: enjoy working with numbers and possess a basic understanding of retail KPIs
  • Communication Skills: proactive communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and can build strong relationships
  • Organization & Detail-Oriented: structured way of working and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Language Proficiency: fluent in English (our corporate language)
  • Educational Context: currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Business, Fashion Management, or a related field with full-time working hour availability, or are a graduate looking to expand experience at this level

  • Define and own the Home buying strategy aligned with brand vision, customer insight, and commercial targets across all channels
  • Build and maintain a balanced, luxury assortment across categories such as tableware, serve ware, gifting, kitchen accessories, candles, linens, and seasonal ranges
  • Lead seasonal range planning, open-to-buy management, and margin delivery
  • Ownership of the buying calendar
  • Identify white-space opportunities, emerging trends, and category extensions that complement the luxury food offer
  • Lead new product development (NPD), including own-label, exclusive, and collaborative ranges
  • Lead the development of the product offer for your categories, ensuring that clear strategies and commercial plans are developed, implemented, and executed to drive strong sales growth, profit and excellent quality standards, as well as supporting our sustainability agenda
  • Translate brand DNA into compelling product concepts with clear design, material, quality, and packaging direction
  • Manage product briefs, critical paths, costings, and timelines from concept to launch
