Job Description

Internship at a Glance: Location: Immerse yourself in our innovative culture! This role requires a commitment of 4 days in-office per week at our facility in Garden Grove, CA as well as full-time hours (40 hours a week). Duration: 10-11 weeks (May 26 to August 7 OR June 22 to August 28). Relocation Support: A $1,000 relocation stipend is available for interns currently residing more than 50 miles from Garden Grove, CA. Compensation: Earn an hourly rate of $25-35 USD per hour.

Job Responsibility

  • Support design engineering and testing functions
  • Develop and execute test plans, including fixture design, test method development, data logging, and reporting
  • Assist with problem-solving tasks related to the design of parts
  • Design components for battery packs and related systems
  • Assist with analysis, documentation, drawings, and other facets of design engineering
  • Assist with preparation of components, assemblies, test equipment, and manufacturing equipment for production launch

Requirements

  • Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program or greater in electrical, computer, mechanical, or related engineering field
  • Experience modeling components in CAD
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, thermal, and/or fluid system design
  • Understanding of 2D drawing layout and GD&T
  • Motivation and willingness to learn on the job
  • Ability to take ownership of a project, with guidance from the battery team
  • Work authorized in the United States OR ability to obtain J-1/F-1 visa

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in automotive projects is preferred, but not required
  • Collegiate teams such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE, EcoCAR, Supermileage, etc.
  • Hands-on experience working on vehicles
  • Knowledge of hybrid / electric vehicle systems and components preferred
  • Understanding of basic manufacturing and fabrication processes preferred
