Job Description

We are currently seeking an ambitious engineering student to join our high voltage battery team. As an intern, you will have various opportunities to contribute to the design and development of a new electric vehicle battery system. The primary responsibilities for this position will be to work with the Battery manufacturing team designing manufacturing processes equipment and fixtures. The role also offers the opportunity to build valuable experience at a fast paced, high growth startup during a critical early product development stage.

Job Responsibility

  • Design test fixtures
  • overseeing the manufacturing and implementation of the designs
  • Participate as part of the manufacturing team in prototype builds
  • Create work instructions and work to resolve issues identified during prototype builds
  • Create 2D and 3D CAD using CATIA 3DExperience
  • Become part of the manufacturing team working with build technicians and engineers to resolve current build challenges and designing new equipment and tools for future build phases with higher volumes

Requirements

  • Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program or greater in electrical, computer, mechanical, or related engineering field
  • Experience modeling components in CAD
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, thermal, and/or fluid system design
  • Understanding of 2D drawing layout and GD&T
  • Motivation and willingness to learn on the job
  • Ability to take ownership of a project, with guidance from the battery team
  • Work authorized in the United States OR ability to obtain F-1 visa

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in automotive projects is preferred, but not required
  • Collegiate teams such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE, EcoCAR, Supermileage, etc.
  • Hands-on experience working on vehicles
  • Knowledge of hybrid / electric vehicle systems and components preferred
  • Understanding of basic manufacturing and fabrication processes preferred
