The BioMarin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within BioMarin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Over the course of 10 - 12 weeks our interns gain industry experience while working alongside our talented team on meaningful projects. The Commercial Business Operations & Strategy (BOS) team is responsible for driving data-driven decision-making across the global organization. We act as the "analytical engine" for the business, leveraging data to guide strategy, optimize execution, and ultimately ensure our therapies reach the patients who need them. We are currently transforming our capabilities to include cutting-edge predictive modeling and Generative AI solutions. This intern will play a critical role in advancing our predictive analytics capabilities. You will work on high-impact initiatives designed to modernize how we answer strategic questions using advanced technology.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and refine predictive algorithms, machine learning models, and "Agentic AI" workflows to solve complex commercial challenges
Assist in deploying these models into our production environment to support real-time business decisions for our core brands
Requirements:
Student pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field
Must be available to work full time, 40 hours a week
Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. based university or college and enrolled in the fall term after the completion of the internship OR have graduated within 1 year of the start of the program
Must be able to relocate if necessary and work at the designated site for the duration of the internship for on-site, hybrid roles
Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and analysis
Solid understanding of core Data Analytics principles and statistical methods
Ability to translate complex data findings into clear business insights
Nice to have:
Biotech/Pharma experience is desired but not required, specifically the ability to connect business questions and strategy to technical analytics solutions
Experience with AI and Agentic workflows (building autonomous agents)
Hands-on experience building RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems or LLM applications
Familiarity with the Databricks platform
