Job Description:

Do you have strong skills in manual testing to complement automated tests, ensuring comprehensive coverage? Do you have knowledge of writing and troubleshooting test scripts, and familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript for testing Angular applications? If so, this would be a great opportunity for you! Our client is looking for an Intermediate Systems Testing/QA Specialist for a 12 month contract in Toronto.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provides advice on the testing strategy, test plans, the selection of testing tools, and the identification of resources required for testing
  • Plans and organizes testing efforts for large systems in Graphical User Interface (GUI) and non-Graphical User Interface (GUI) environments, including the execution of systems integration tests, specialized tests, and user acceptance testing (e.g., stress tests)
  • The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for the development of test plans, test scripts and test cases and executing these against the various components
  • Executes functional, integration, system, and regression tests
  • Validates that the system behaves as expected under various conditions
  • Identifies, document, and track software defects using tools like ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, and Azure DevOps
  • Works closely with developers to reproduce and resolve issues
  • Develops and maintains automated test scripts using tools like Micro Focus, OpenText™ UFT, Selenium, TestComplete, or Postman
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
  • Conduct performance, stress, and load testing to ensure the system can handle expected user traffic and data volumes
  • Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project managers to clarify requirements and ensure quality
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies like sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • Maintain detailed documentation of test results, test coverage, and quality metrics
  • Provide input for user manuals and release notes
  • Ensure testing processes comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • The resource will also support CSC release and infrastructure solutions support sustainment activities, urgent priorities, changing needs, or time-sensitive infrastructure upgrades, or other sustainment activities supporting any CSC platforms overseen by the Cluster where annual work is required

Requirements:

  • Strong skills in manual testing to complement automated tests, ensuring comprehensive coverage
  • Proficiency in automation tools like Selenium and Playwright to create and run automated test scripts
  • Knowledge of writing and troubleshooting test scripts, and familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript for testing Angular applications
  • Experience with Oracle DB, including writing and optimizing SQL queries, and understanding PL/SQL
  • Proficiency in Azure DevOps for managing test cases and tracking defects
  • Skills in testing RESTful APIs using tools like Postman or SoapUI
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools in Azure DevOps to integrate automated tests
  • Experience testing for WCAG compliance in web applications, experience using automated test tools such as AXE and screen readers (NVDA, Narrator) for testing
  • Experience in testing reports and other enhancements to systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to identify even the smallest defects and inconsistencies
  • Strong problem-solving skills to understand complex systems and identify potential issues
  • Experience working in agile and waterfall environments
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with client organization
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • Experience with desktop tools (Visio, MS Office, MS Project, MS Outlook)
  • Previous sector experience in an organization of equivalent size and complexity to the Ontario Service
