Job Description:

The Intermediate BI Developer role at NTT DATA involves maintaining BI solutions, delivering development initiatives, and troubleshooting complex data issues. This role goes beyond traditional BI development or reactive support. We take pride in what we do — we partner with our clients, take ownership of their BI environments, and work proactively to deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions. You will be responsible for a mix of small project development, proactive and reactive support, and troubleshooting complex BI and data issues. You’ll work closely with clients, build trusted relationships, and contribute to continuously improving both our client solutions and our internal ways of working.

Job Responsibility:

Maintain BI solutions in a managed services environment
Deliver small to medium BI development initiatives alongside ongoing support work
Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of data, ETL/ELT, model, and reporting issues
Proactively identify risks, improvements, and optimisation opportunities
Work directly with clients to understand business needs and translate them into effective BI solutions
Build strong, long-term relationships and act as a trusted BI partner to clients
Follow and contribute to internal processes, standards, and best practices to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery
Document solutions, learnings, and improvements to support knowledge sharing and operational excellence

Requirements:

3+ years of production experience analysing and wrangling data
Production experience building ETL / ELT pipelines using technologies such as SQL, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics
3–5+ years of production experience building data warehouses and dimensional data models
Practical experience applying Kimball star-schema methodology on Microsoft-based technologies
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong sense of ownership and accountability
Client-focused mindset with a passion for building relationships
Comfortable working in production environments and handling live issues
Self-motivated, SLA-aware, and eager to grow

Nice to have:

Experience working with relational data sources (e.g. CSV, Excel, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
Strong understanding of relational, dimensional, and non-structured data, and how to model each effectively
Experience transforming and conforming diverse data sources into meaningful business insights
Understanding of business metrics and visible data lineage
Experience working with modern modelling tools (on-premise and/or cloud), such as SQL Server, Analysis Services, Power BI, Azure Synapse Analytics
Experience building developer-friendly technical data models
Strong DAX modelling experience (Power BI, Analysis Services, DAX Studio, Tabular Editor)
Experience building dashboards for development, testing, and self-service enablement (Power BI, Excel)
Exposure to common enterprise source systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle EBS, Salesforce, SharePoint, Dynamics 365, Office 365)
Understanding of data governance, master data management, and data lineage
Exposure to public, non-relational, or unstructured data
Experience with hybrid cloud environments and/or non-Azure platforms (AWS, GCP)
Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices (e.g. GitHub, Azure DevOps)
Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Strong business acumen and ability to break down ambiguous requirements
Experience translating business needs into technical solutions
Willingness to coach, collaborate, and share knowledge within the team
Microsoft certifications are advantageous
