Our client, a well-established organization in the logistics industry, is seeking an Interim Payroll Manager to step in and provide hands-on leadership during a transitional period. This role will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuity for a multi-state employee population.
Job Responsibility:
Manage end-to-end payroll processing on a recurring basis, ensuring timely and accurate payroll delivery
Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions, discrepancies, and escalations
Oversee payroll compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings and wage-and-hour requirements
Partner with HR, Finance, and external vendors to ensure payroll data integrity and proper reporting
Review and approve payroll changes including new hires, terminations, pay rate updates, bonuses, and deductions
Support audits, reconciliations, and payroll reporting as needed
Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency during the interim period
Provide guidance and day-to-day direction to payroll staff, if applicable
Requirements:
Proven experience managing payroll operations in a high-volume environment
Prior experience in logistics, transportation, or a similarly fast-paced industry strongly preferred
Hands-on experience with UKG payroll software preferred
Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance and regulations
Ability to step into an interim role and quickly gain traction with minimal ramp-up
Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working onsite in a deadline-driven setting
